Senior Audience Editor, March 2019 - present

  • Own social distribution for McClatchy Studios original video and audio content. Develop and manage social media content production calendar, including rollouts for major campaigns. Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Editorial, Product and Public Relations. Responsible for maintaining a brand's consistent voice, quality and activity across all platforms to promote a strong online reputation.

  • Conceive and implement audience growth strategy for McClatchy Studios content through monitoring, listening and engaging with stakeholders and/or influencers.

  • Maintain prevailing working knowledge of industry best practices for relevant distribution platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap), including non-traditional story formats like vertical format video.

  • Analyze and distill performance metrics (i.e. Facebook Insights, CrowdTangle). Share findings and top-line takeaways across departments, through presentations as well as text reports.

Social Media Editor, January 2015 - March 2019

  • Created audience-centered promotional strategy for McClatchy Studios' original documentary video series, and managed teams to execute that strategy.

    • I launched McClatchy’s award-winning episodic series “Titletown, TX” on Facebook Watch, where the audience has watched more than 63M minutes of video and has grown to more than 180K after 18 months.

  • Lead Facebook video efforts for McClatchy’s 30 local newsrooms: including guidance on how to replicate successful social video, best practices for Facebook Live and 360, training on captioning, optimizing all post types for maximum reach and troubleshooting new features.

  • Analyzed social metrics across McClatchy to provide ongoing, data-driven guidance about performance on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  • Presented at the Online News Associations’ 2018 conference on a topic I pitched: “How Facebook is going for Local News”.

  • Received 2017 McClatchy President’s Award for editing contributions on “Hope and a Back Handspring”.

  • Selected to participate in McClatchy's first two-week Design Thinking incubator led by the Stanford d.school in June 2015, and was part of a team selected to compete in a second incubator in May 2016 for the top three teams in the company.

  • Managed online production and promotion of long-term investigations, leading the organization on everything from digital-first writing and reporting, to best social media practices.

  • Synthesized social media and web traffic analytics to represent the impact of grant-funded reporting projects. 

  • Worked as part of a four-person digital team whose efforts were recognized with the Online News Association's 2014 award for General Excellence in a small newsroom.
