McClatchy Studios, Washington, D.C.

Social Media Editor, January 2015 - present

  • Creating audience-centered promotional strategy for McClatchy Studios' original documentary video series, and managing teams to execute that strategy.

    • I launched McClatchy’s award-winning episodic series “Titletown, TX” on Facebook Watch, where the audience has watched more than 47M minutes of video and has grown to more than 150K after a year.

  • Leading Facebook video efforts for McClatchy’s 30 local newsrooms: including guidance on how to replicate successful social video, best practices for Facebook Live and 360, training on captioning, optimizing all post types for maximum reach and troubleshooting new features.

  • Analyzing social metrics across McClatchy to provide ongoing, data-driven guidance about performance on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

  • Selected to participate in McClatchy's first two-week Design Thinking incubator led by the Stanford in June 2015, and was part of a team selected to compete in a second incubator in May 2016 for the top three teams in the company.

Center for Public Integrity, Washington, D.C.

Engagement Editor, July 2013 - December 2014

  • Managed online production and promotion of long-term investigations, leading the organization on everything from digital-first writing and reporting, to best social media practices.

  • Synthesized social media and web traffic analytics to represent the impact of grant-funded reporting projects. 

  • Worked as part of a four-person digital team whose efforts were recognized with the Online News Association's 2014 award for General Excellence in a small newsroom.
