McClatchy Video Lab, Washington, D.C.

Social Media Editor, January 2015 - present

  • Sourcing, reporting and producing nationally targeted Facebook video for 30 McClatchy newsrooms.

    • In 2016, videos I edited and distributed received 39M+ views on Facebook.

  • Formulating and running internal experiments alongside the evolution of Facebook video, focusing on new features to optimize reach and make workflows more efficient.

  • Developed an in-depth, data-driven audience profile for each McClatchy newsroom, based on Facebook Insights.

  • Assisted with many early-stage activities associated with the Video Lab's start-up nature, such as designing and maintaining their website and developing social campaigns for McClatchy's D.C. Bureau.

  • Selected to participate in McClatchy's first two-week Design Thinking incubator led by the Stanford d.school in June 2015, and was part of a team selected to compete in a second incubator in May 2016 for the top three teams in the company.

Center for Public Integrity, Washington, D.C.

Engagement Editor, July 2013 - December 2014

  • Managed online production and promotion of long-term investigations, leading the organization on everything from digital-first writing and reporting, to best social media practices.

  • Synthesized social media and web traffic analytics to represent the impact of grant-funded reporting projects. 

  • Worked as part of a four-person digital team whose efforts were recognized with the Online News Association's 2014 award for General Excellence in a small newsroom.
